Hawaiian Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 can pineapple chunks (20 oz)
- 1 package candaian bacon (~6oz)
- 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce (I don't measure, so it might have been more)
- 1/2 teaspoon corn starch
- 1 teaspoon water (make slurry with cornstarch)
- Pinch of salt
Directions
Strain the juice from the pineapple chunks reserving liquid
Let pineapple rest in strainer for about 10 minutes shaking ocassionally to get all moisture out
Chop pineapple roughly to reduce size a bit and return to strainer while oven preheats
Preheat oven to 450°F
Lay parchment on sheetpan
Throw pineapple in oven for 15 minutes flipping half way thru
In a sauce pan over medium heat sear canadian bacon until it develops some color, set aside,
Add pineapple juice, soy sauce, salt to the pan
Reduce sauce for a few mintues until thickened and slighty browned
Add the cornstarch slurry to the sauce and whisk until thickened to a syrup
Drizzle on pizza either before it goes in the oven for some burnt sugary flavors or about 5 minutes away from the pizza being done to give it that flavor bomb
