Hawaiian Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 can pineapple chunks (20 oz)
  • 1 package candaian bacon (~6oz)
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce (I don't measure, so it might have been more)
  • 1/2 teaspoon corn starch
  • 1 teaspoon water (make slurry with cornstarch)
  • Pinch of salt

Directions

  • Strain the juice from the pineapple chunks reserving liquid

  • Let pineapple rest in strainer for about 10 minutes shaking ocassionally to get all moisture out

  • Chop pineapple roughly to reduce size a bit and return to strainer while oven preheats

  • Preheat oven to 450°F

  • Lay parchment on sheetpan

  • Throw pineapple in oven for 15 minutes flipping half way thru

  • In a sauce pan over medium heat sear canadian bacon until it develops some color, set aside,

  • Add pineapple juice, soy sauce, salt to the pan

  • Reduce sauce for a few mintues until thickened and slighty browned

  • Add the cornstarch slurry to the sauce and whisk until thickened to a syrup

  • Drizzle on pizza either before it goes in the oven for some burnt sugary flavors or about 5 minutes away from the pizza being done to give it that flavor bomb
